Are there different types of face fit tests?

Are there different types of face fit tests? Two methods for carrying out a face fit are qualitative and quantitative.

Qualitative is subjective and carried out by fitting a mask under a hood and spraying a strong-tasting solution into the space. The individual then carries out a range of movements simulating work indicating when and if they start to taste the solution. If they begin to taste it, the mask is not appropriately sealed.

Quantitative is more measurable and done by the user wearing a mask fitted with a particle counter. They then carry out a range of movements to simulate working while the machine measures the particles within the mask, which will tell you whether it has been appropriately sealed or not.

Here at Beacon UK, we only offer Quantitative testing as we believe safety is paramount, and we like to be led by solid metrics. Hopefully, we have answered the question Are there different types of face fit tests? And should you need a face fit test, please follow the link below.
